过去24小时,行业舆论聚焦处,除了“国产拉菲”的千呼万唤始出来,再就是日本私募基金CJF投资国内领先精品葡萄酒企业「由西往东美酒公司」EMW ,在行业内引起广泛反响。

关于本次事宜,乐酒客第一时间联系了EMW首席执政官Edouard DUVAL,并就外界的猜测和疑问进行了采访。

根据采访,我总结出以下几个硬核点:

这次CJF只是对EMW注资,并没有股权变动。

CJF认可EMW的运营模式和品牌价值,并不想改变EMW,管理层也不会有变动。

上海一位不愿透露姓名的精品葡萄酒商认为:“国内葡萄酒行业头部品牌竞争激烈,很多公司都在寻求突破。EMW从一个小团队成长到如今位居国内精品酒进口商第一梯队,CJP的投资可以使其成长性在资金稳定的情况下,为EMW在商业与市场层面起到促进作用。”

也正是出于这种成长性的考量,EMW能以更大的力度提升市场营销体系的质量和品牌影响力。简言之,此次事件,一方面透露出EMW当下的某种战略取向和求生欲,另一方面也预示着在EMW等大牌高端精品葡萄酒企业的引领下,葡萄酒行业正进入一个新的“生态环境”。

不过,在对几位业内人士的采访中,也有酒商透露:由西往东的并购,其实是给他们这些精品酒商提供了一个模板,所以希望日后可以获知更多的细节。

乐酒客:您是否可以透露CJF购买了多少数量的股份?

Edouard:CJF对EMW进行了大量投资,将为我们持续快速成长的精品葡萄酒和烈酒业务带来必要的资源,并为我们的清酒项目带来专业知识和经销网络。

乐酒客:CJF加入后,EMW的未来发展将发生什么变化?

Edouard:首先,你需要明白的是,当Gregory(EMW的另一联合创始人)和我邀请第三方投资我们公司时,是为了获得一个跟我们拥有相同愿景和价值观的合伙人。一个对我们的商业模式、团队和合作伙伴品牌极为信任的合作伙伴。除了他们带来的资源和专业知识外,CJF——通过对生活方式、数字营销和酒水行业的投资——还带来了许多其他的协同效应。

Would you mind to disclose how many shares CJF has bought?

CJF made a significant investment into EMW that will bring necessary resources to support our continuous fast growth for our premium wines and spirits business as well as they will bring expertise and a professional network for our Sake project.

With the injection of CJF, what changes will be made in EMW’s future development?

First you need to understand that when Gregory and I invited a third party to invest capital into our company it was to gain a partner who shares the same vision and values as us. A partner who has a deep trust in our business model, our teams, and our partner brands. On top of the resources and expertise they bring, CJF – by their investments in lifestyle companies, digital marketing companies, and liquor industry companies – bring many other synergies.

One immediate benefit for us is to accelerate our development in the Sake business, a project which we have been working on for over a year. Sake expertise is a core competency of CJF. Furthermore, it helps to accelerate our development in corporate sales, E-commerce and digital marketing. The other important benefit to this relationship is to have the resources to continue to build and attract the best people, to build the best team in the wine industry, and to support our fast growth.

Any management adjustment after this transaction?

The key reason for CJF to invest in EMW is the quality of our business and our management. We have a great team, very healthy operations, and we are one of the few companies specializing in introducing products to China in a professional manner based on building brands, and brand equity, side by side with our suppliers. CJF is not looking to change us, or to have us make management changes, but is offering to bring more resources to help us achieve success.

This is especiallytrue in the Sake field where they have experts, specialists, and very goodconnections to Sake breweries. We are in process from our side of recruiting aSake Brand Manager to be based in China to lead the Sake project. It is a greatopportunity for our company and it is happening at a great moment in thedevelopment of China when the market is more challenging but we also see greatopportunity in front of us.The extra resources also create opportunity for our team members, our suppliers/partners, and our clients.

I am personally very excited by this new project and the partnership with CJF. It is a great new challenge for me, and our team, to develop the company and take it to the next level. I was born in the wine business, raised in wine business, and I have spent the past thirteen years in China developing, with Gregory, a great company, an amazing team, and a network of loyal partners. It is a very important milestone as the relationship between EMW and CJF, combined with our deep knowledge and grasp on the market, gives us great competitive advantages.

Most importantly, together we see the long-term outlook for China as extraordinarily positive. China is opening the doors for international trade. The potential of this market remains huge. China is becoming increasingly international with consumers seeking diverse products from around the world and through travel and exposure they are becoming very savvy consumers. The number of “wine drinkers” in China will continue to grow over the next decade creating a great future for quality and premium products.
